Amazon Ads Not Getting Impressions?

Your Sponsored Products campaign is live, but the impressions column says zero or the budget never gets spent. Answer these 8 questions. Each "No" shows you the cause and how to fix it.

  1. 1. Does the campaign status column say "Delivering"?
  2. 2. Is the product in stock and do you hold the Featured Offer (Buy Box)?
  3. 3. Is the listing active and not suppressed?
  4. 4. Have the ads passed moderation (no "Pending review" or "Rejected")?
  5. 5. Are your bids at or above the low end of the suggested bid range?
  6. 6. Do your keywords have real search volume?
  7. 7. Are your negative keywords free of overlap with your targets?
  8. 8. Has the campaign run for more than 48 hours with no end date in the past?

How Amazon decides whether your ad shows

Every time a shopper searches, Amazon runs an auction among the eligible ads. Your ad has to pass three gates:

  1. Eligibility. The listing is active, in stock, holds the Featured Offer and the ad passed moderation. Fail here and you get zero impressions on everything.
  2. Relevance. Amazon matches the search to your keyword and checks that your product fits it. A product that rarely converts for a search gets shown less for it over time.
  3. Bid. Among the relevant ads, the bid decides who wins the slot. A bid well under the suggested range loses most auctions.

How to find the keywords with zero impressions

  1. In the Amazon Ads console open Measurement and Reporting, then Sponsored ads reports.
  2. Create a Sponsored Products targeting report for the last 30 days and download it as CSV.
  3. Compare it with the keyword list in your campaign. Keywords that are missing from the report or show 0 impressions never won an auction.
  4. For each one, check the suggested bid. Under the range: raise it. Inside the range: the phrase has little volume, so add a broader version.

Impressions, but no sales?

Then the ads work and something else stops the sale. Run a free listing audit on the ASIN, check your margin with the ACOS calculator and upload your search term report to the search term report analyzer to find the terms that waste clicks.

Questions sellers ask

Why are my Amazon ads not getting impressions?

The most common causes are a campaign that is not delivering (out of budget, payment failure, ineligible), a product without the Featured Offer or out of stock, a suppressed listing, ads stuck in moderation, bids far below the suggested range, and keywords nobody searches for.

Why is my Amazon PPC campaign not spending its budget?

A campaign spends only when it wins auctions and gets clicks. Low bids, narrow exact match keywords and negatives that block your own targets all cut the number of auctions you enter. Raise bids to the suggested range and add broader match types to start spending.

How long does it take for new Amazon ads to get impressions?

Most new campaigns show impressions within a few hours. Ads in moderation can take up to 72 hours, and the console itself can lag by a day. After 48 hours with zero impressions, something is blocking delivery.

Why did my Amazon ads suddenly stop getting impressions?

A sudden drop almost always has a single cause: the product went out of stock, you lost the Featured Offer to another seller, the listing got suppressed, the daily budget ran out early, or the card on file failed. Check those five before you touch bids.

Why are my Sponsored Brands ads not showing?

Sponsored Brands needs Brand Registry, at least three eligible products for most formats, and an approved creative. Moderation is stricter than for Sponsored Products, so check the ad status for a rejection reason first.

Do Amazon ads run on a listing without reviews?

Yes. Sponsored Products can serve on a listing with zero reviews. The ad will often get a lower click-through rate, so expect to pay more per order until the first reviews come in.

I get impressions but no clicks or sales. What now?

That is a listing problem more than an ads problem. A weak main image, a low rating or a price above similar products all kill click-through and conversion. Run a free listing audit on the ASIN, then check your search term report for terms that took clicks without orders.
