Amazon Listing Optimization Checklist for 2026
Title, bullets, images, backend keywords: run through this checklist on every new listing before you launch, and on every existing listing that is underperforming.
Title Optimization
Your title is the most important element in your listing. It directly affects search ranking and click-through rate. Include your primary keyword within the first 80 characters, since Amazon often truncates titles in search results. Include brand name, product name, key features (size, color, material, quantity), and compatibility where relevant. Do not use all caps, symbols, or subjective claims like 'best' in the title.
Bullet Points
Five bullet points, each starting with a capitalized feature name, is the standard. Lead with the most important benefit, not the feature. Instead of '12-inch blade,' write 'PRECISION CUTTING with a 12-inch stainless steel blade.' Each bullet should address a different customer concern: performance, durability, ease of use, compatibility, and warranty or customer service.
Product Description and A+ Content
If you are brand registered, use A+ Content instead of the plain text description. A+ Content with images, comparison charts, and formatted sections converts significantly better than plain paragraphs. For sellers without brand registry, write clear, benefit-focused paragraphs that reinforce your bullet points and address common objections or questions.
Backend Keywords
You have 250 bytes of backend keyword space. Use it entirely. Include synonyms, alternate spellings, related search terms, and any keywords you could not naturally fit in the title or bullets. Do not repeat keywords already in your title. Do not include competitor brand names.
Images
You need a minimum of six images to compete in most categories. Main image on white background, lifestyle shot showing the product in use, size or dimension reference, feature callout images, and a packaging shot. The image sequence tells a story. Make sure the first image is crisp, well-lit, and fills at least 85 percent of the frame.
