Amazon Account Health: What Every Metric Means and How to Fix Problems Fast
A complete guide to Amazon Account Health metrics in 2026: Order Defect Rate, Late Shipment Rate, Policy Compliance, and how to respond before Amazon takes action.
Amazon Account Health is the dashboard in Seller Central that shows whether your selling account is at risk of suspension. Every seller should check it weekly. Most sellers only look at it after something goes wrong.
Order Defect Rate (ODR)
ODR is the percentage of orders that resulted in a defect over the trailing 60 days. A defect is: a negative feedback rating (1 or 2 stars), an A-to-z Guarantee claim that was not rejected, or a credit card chargeback.
Amazon's threshold is 1%. If your ODR exceeds 1%, you are at risk of suspension.
To fix an elevated ODR: identify which ASINs are driving the defects. One or two products generating the majority of complaints is a quality or listing accuracy problem. Widespread low-level defects suggest a fulfillment or packaging issue.
Late Shipment Rate
Late Shipment Rate measures the percentage of FBM orders that were not shipped by the expected ship date. The threshold is 4%. This does not apply to FBA orders.
The most common cause: not confirming shipment in Seller Central on the same day the order is physically shipped. Amazon counts the order as late until confirmation is recorded.
Valid Tracking Rate
Amazon requires that 95% of FBM orders have a valid tracking number uploaded within 24 hours of shipment confirmation. Use a carrier whose tracking integrates directly with Amazon.
Policy Compliance
The Policy Compliance section shows warnings and violations Amazon has issued against your account. Read every warning. Amazon gives you an opportunity to respond before they escalate to a suspension. Proactive responses demonstrate awareness and reduce the likelihood of escalation.
Intellectual Property Complaints
IP complaints appear in Account Health when a rights holder has filed a complaint against one of your listings. Left unresolved, IP complaints accumulate and can trigger account suspension. For each complaint: gather your authorization documentation and contact the rights holder directly.
The weekly Account Health review
Check Account Health every Monday. If any metric is moving in the wrong direction, address it before it crosses a threshold. Waiting until a metric crosses the danger zone means you are already in a reactive position.
