Amazon Brand Registry 2026: Benefits, Requirements, and How to Enroll

Amazon Brand Registry benefits in 2026: A+ Content, brand analytics, counterfeit protection, Sponsored Brands ads, and step-by-step enrollment requirements.

What Brand Registry Is

Amazon Brand Registry is a free program that gives brand owners additional tools and protections on the platform. Enrollment requires a registered trademark (not a pending application -- a registered trademark with a government IP office). In exchange, you get access to features that are unavailable to third-party sellers without brand registration: A+ Content, Sponsored Brands ads, Brand Analytics, the Brand Dashboard, and enhanced IP protection tools. Brand Registry is separate from Amazon's gating system -- you can still be blocked from listing in certain categories without additional category approval.

Requirements for Enrollment

You must have a registered trademark in the country where you want the protection. Acceptable registrations: USPTO (US), EUIPO (EU), IPO (UK), CIPO (Canada), IP Australia, and most other major national IP offices. The trademark must be text-based or image-based (both work) and must match the brand name on your Amazon listings exactly. A pending trademark application is NOT sufficient -- you need the registration certificate. The trademark owner (or an authorized agent) must be the one who enrolls. You also need an active Amazon Seller Central or Vendor Central account.

A+ Content

A+ Content lets you replace the standard product description with a rich-media layout: comparison charts, additional images with text overlay, brand story modules, and multi-column layouts. Studies consistently show A+ Content increases conversion rates by 3-10%. Basic A+ Content is free. Premium A+ (larger modules, interactive content, video) is available to sellers who have published 15 or more A+ Content projects. For any product with significant competition, A+ Content is a meaningful competitive advantage because competitors without Brand Registry cannot match the visual quality of your listing.

Brand Analytics

Brand Analytics gives you data that is otherwise unavailable to sellers: the top search terms customers used to find your products, your click share and conversion share on those terms, and demographic data about your buyers (age, income, household composition). This data is available weekly or monthly. Use it to: identify search terms where competitors are winning your potential customers, understand which terms drive purchases vs. just clicks, and track your market share over time. The search query performance report in Brand Analytics is one of the most useful data sources for Amazon PPC optimization.

Counterfeit Protection

Brand Registry gives you access to the Report a Violation tool (previously Transparency program) which lets you report counterfeit listings directly to Amazon with higher priority than standard seller reports. Amazon responds faster to Brand Registry reports because you have verified ownership of the brand. You can also enroll in Amazon Transparency, which lets you apply unique codes to each product unit -- Amazon scans these codes before shipping to verify authenticity. Transparency enrollment has per-unit costs ($0.01-0.05/unit) but is worth it for high-value or high-counterfeit-risk products.
