Suppression: Restricted Product Listing

The product has been identified as falling into a restricted or prohibited category. Amazon removes these listings immediately. Some products require pre-approval to sell; others are completely prohibited.

How to detect this suppression

The listing will show as "Inactive" in Manage Inventory. Account Health may show a policy violation. Amazon sends an email notification identifying the restricted product type.

Fix steps

  1. 1Identify the specific restriction type from the Account Health notification
  2. 2Check if the product is in a gated (requires approval) category — if so, apply for approval through Add Products
  3. 3If the product is in a prohibited category: do not attempt to relist. Create a removal order for any FBA inventory
  4. 4For borderline cases: contact Seller Support with product documentation to get a definitive ruling before relisting
  5. 5Review Amazon's Restricted Products policy to understand the full scope of the restriction

Appeal process

For gated categories: apply through the standard approval process. For prohibited products: no appeal is possible — the product cannot be listed on Amazon. For borderline cases: submit a Seller Support case with documentation.

Expected resolution time: 3-14 days
