Suppression: Intellectual Property (IP) Complaint

A brand or rights owner has filed a trademark, copyright, or patent infringement complaint against your listing. Amazon removes the listing immediately and records the violation on your Account Health.

How to detect this suppression

Account Health > Intellectual Property Complaints shows all IP claims. The listing deactivates immediately when a complaint is received. You receive an email notification with the complaint type and complainant information.

Fix steps

  1. 1Identify the specific IP right being claimed (trademark, copyright, or patent)
  2. 2If you have authorization to sell the product: gather documentation (brand authorization letter, legitimate purchase invoice from brand-authorized distributor)
  3. 3Contact the complainant directly through Amazon's messaging system to resolve the dispute — many IP complaints are resolved by retraction
  4. 4If the complaint is invalid: prepare documentation showing your right to sell the product and submit a counter-notice through Account Health
  5. 5Do not re-list the product while the complaint is active — this escalates the violation

Appeal process

Contact the complainant first to seek retraction. If they agree to retract, the listing can be reinstated. If they do not, submit a formal counter-notice through Account Health with supporting documentation. Legal advice is recommended for patent disputes.

Expected resolution time: 3-21 days
