Amazon Suppressed Listings

A suppressed listing still exists and still holds its reviews, but buyers cannot find it in search and often cannot buy from the product page either. Amazon suppresses for a fixed set of reasons, nearly all of them data problems you can repair yourself. Below is each reason, how to confirm it is the one affecting your ASIN, the repair, and how long reinstatement usually takes.

If the listing was removed for a policy or intellectual property reason rather than a data one, an edit will not bring it back. That needs a plan of action instead.

Critical severity

14 suppression reasons.

Missing Main Image

Typically resolved in 4-24 hours

Amazon requires every active listing to have a main product image. Without one, the listing is automatically suppressed and hidden from all search results and Browse pages.

Prohibited Image Content

Typically resolved in 4-48 hours

One or more listing images contain content that Amazon prohibits: text overlays, promotional badges, watermarks, borders, environmental props in the main image slot, or content that makes misleading claims.

Safety Complaint

Typically resolved in 3-14 days

A buyer, competitor, or regulatory body has filed a safety complaint against your product. Amazon takes safety complaints extremely seriously and will typically suspend the listing immediately pending investigation.

Intellectual Property (IP) Complaint

Typically resolved in 3-21 days

A brand or rights owner has filed a trademark, copyright, or patent infringement complaint against your listing. Amazon removes the listing immediately and records the violation on your Account Health.

Review Manipulation Suspicion

Typically resolved in 7-21 days

Amazon has flagged your listing for suspected review manipulation, soliciting reviews with incentives, using third-party review services, or having reviews that violate Amazon's community guidelines. This can trigger listing removal and account-level enforcement.

Sold as New When Not New

Typically resolved in 5-14 days

Amazon has determined or received reports that products sold under your "New" condition listing were actually used, refurbished, repackaged, or otherwise not factory-new. This is a serious policy violation.

Restricted Product Listing

Typically resolved in 3-14 days

The product has been identified as falling into a restricted or prohibited category. Amazon removes these listings immediately. Some products require pre-approval to sell; others are completely prohibited.

Drug Claim in Listing

Typically resolved in 1-5 days

The listing contains language that Amazon or the FDA classifies as a drug claim, implying the product can diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent a disease or condition. These claims require FDA approval and violate Amazon policy.

Medical Device or Medical Claim

Typically resolved in 3-14 days

The listing claims the product is a medical device, makes medical treatment claims, or positions the product for medical use without proper FDA registration. Medical device claims require 510(k) clearance or PMA approval.

Pesticide or Pest Control Claim

Typically resolved in 3-21 days

The listing makes claims about killing, repelling, or controlling pests without proper EPA registration. Products claiming pest control efficacy must be registered with the EPA and meet specific labeling requirements.

Counterfeit Product Report

Typically resolved in 7-30 days

A brand owner or buyer has reported that your product is counterfeit, an unauthorized copy or replica of a trademarked product. This is among the most serious violations on Amazon and can lead to permanent account suspension.

Used Item Listed as New

Typically resolved in 7-14 days

Amazon has received reports or identified evidence that items sold under a "New" condition offer were actually used, returned, or refurbished. This violates Amazon's condition guidelines and can result in suspension.

Multiple Account Violation

Typically resolved in 14-45 days

Amazon has determined that you operate more than one seller account without explicit written authorization. Amazon's policy permits only one seller account per entity unless special circumstances are documented and approved.

Account Health Below Threshold

Typically resolved in 14-45 days

Your overall Account Health Score has fallen below Amazon's minimum threshold (currently 150 for most markets), triggering deactivation of some or all listings. This happens when policy violations accumulate without resolution.

High severity

6 suppression reasons.

Pricing Error / Price Suppression

Typically resolved in 2-6 hours

Amazon suppresses listings when the price is deemed unreasonably high compared to historical pricing, competitor prices on other channels, or Amazon's own pricing data. The listing shows as "Currently unavailable" even though you have inventory.

Incomplete Listing (Missing Required Attributes)

Typically resolved in 1-24 hours

Amazon suppresses listings that are missing required attributes for their category. Required attributes vary by category but commonly include size, color, material, target audience, and safety certifications.

Hazmat Status Unconfirmed

Typically resolved in 3-10 days

Amazon has flagged your product as a potential dangerous good (hazmat) and is waiting for you to provide documentation confirming its hazmat classification before allowing FBA storage and fulfillment.

Adult Content Flag

Typically resolved in 24-72 hours

The listing has been flagged as adult content, which restricts its visibility. Listings incorrectly flagged as adult content will not appear in standard search results and cannot be sold to buyers who have not opted into adult content.

Customer Complaint Suppression

Typically resolved in 3-14 days

A pattern of customer complaints about product quality, item not as described, or safety has triggered a listing review or suppression. Amazon's A-to-Z Guarantee data and return reason codes feed into this.

Review Velocity Block

Typically resolved in 7-21 days

Amazon has detected an abnormal spike in reviews for your listing in a short time period. This triggers an automatic review of the listing and a temporary block on new reviews while Amazon investigates for potential review manipulation.

Questions sellers ask

Where do I find my suppressed listings in Seller Central?

Inventory, then Manage All Inventory, then the Suppressed filter in the left sidebar. Amazon lists each suppressed ASIN with its reason code. The filter only appears when you have at least one suppressed listing, which is why sellers often report it missing.

What is the difference between suppressed and deactivated?

A suppressed listing is hidden from search and the product page for a data problem you can fix yourself, usually a missing image or attribute. A deactivated listing was removed for a policy, safety or intellectual property reason and needs an appeal rather than an edit. The fix paths are completely different, so check which one you actually have first.

How long does it take for a listing to come back after suppression?

Between 4 and 24 hours for a straightforward data fix once the corrected content passes validation. Image suppressions tend to be at the slow end. If a listing is still suppressed after 48 hours, the replacement content did not clear the check and the reason code will have changed.

Does a suppressed listing keep its reviews and ranking?

Reviews stay with the ASIN and come back with it. Ranking does not survive intact, because Best Sellers Rank follows sales velocity and a hidden listing makes none. Expect the rank to rebuild over the weeks after reinstatement rather than snapping back.

Can a listing be suppressed without any notification?

Yes, and it is common. Amazon does not always email for data-level suppressions, so the first sign is usually a sales drop. Checking the Suppressed filter weekly catches these far earlier than waiting for a message.
