Amazon Subscribe & Save Requirements and Eligibility

How to enroll products in Amazon Subscribe & Save, eligibility requirements, and how S&S affects your IPI score and recurring revenue.

Key Points

  • Subscribe & Save is available for consumable products (grocery, beauty, health, pet, household)
  • Minimum 3-star rating and 5 reviews required
  • Enrolled products receive a 5-15% discount for subscribers
  • Seller typically funds the subscriber discount
  • S&S significantly improves sell-through rate, which helps IPI

Policy Details

Amazon Subscribe & Save (S&S) is a subscription program that lets buyers automatically reorder consumable products on a schedule (weekly, every 2 weeks, monthly, etc.) at a discounted price. For sellers, S&S creates predictable recurring revenue, improves sell-through rate (which helps IPI score), and increases average customer lifetime value. Eligibility requirements: S&S is available only for products in consumable categories — Grocery, Health & Household, Beauty & Personal Care, Baby Products, and Pet Supplies are the primary qualifying categories; the product must have at least 5 reviews with a 3-star or higher average; the product must be FBA (not FBM — S&S requires Amazon's fulfillment reliability); the listing must be active and compliant. Enrollment process: go to Seller Central > Advertising > Subscribe & Save > Manage products > Search for eligible ASIN > Enroll. When enrolling, you set the seller-funded discount percentage. Amazon adds its own discount on top (typically 5% for 1-4 items, 15% for 5+ items in a single delivery). Implications for inventory management: once buyers subscribe, they expect recurring deliveries. Stockouts are particularly damaging to S&S sellers because they disrupt subscriber schedules and generate cancellations. Maintain higher safety stock levels for enrolled products and monitor your S&S delivery success rate in the Subscribe & Save reports.

Common Violations

  • Not maintaining sufficient inventory for S&S commitments
  • Price changes that disadvantage existing subscribers
  • Enrolling non-consumable products that do not qualify
