Policy Details

Lightning Deals are curated time-limited promotions that Amazon shows prominently on the /deals page and in search results. Only products that meet Amazon's eligibility criteria appear in the Deals Dashboard for submission. Eligibility criteria: the product must have at least 5 customer reviews with an average rating of 3.5 stars or higher (Amazon may adjust this threshold); the deal price must represent a genuine discount from the product's recent selling price — Amazon typically requires 15-20% minimum discount, but this can vary by event season and category; the listing must be compliant with no active suppressions, violations, or quality issues; the product must be Prime-eligible through FBA or Seller-Fulfilled Prime; and you must have sufficient inventory to cover the projected demand during the deal window (Amazon shows a recommended quantity when you submit). Timeline for submission: Lightning Deals for major events (Prime Day, Black Friday) typically require submission 4-8 weeks in advance. Regular Lightning Deals can usually be submitted 1-2 weeks ahead. Amazon reviews all submissions and may reject deals that do not meet criteria or that they do not want to feature for merchandising reasons. After a Lightning Deal runs, the product cannot run another Lightning Deal for a set period (typically 30 days for the same ASIN). Use the Deals Dashboard in Seller Central to see which of your ASINs are currently eligible and to submit upcoming deals.

Common Violations

  • Submitting deals with insufficient inventory
  • Products with recent listing violations
  • Deal price not representing a genuine discount from recent price history
