Amazon Plan of Action for a Related Account Deactivation
A related account deactivation means Amazon has linked your account to another one, usually through a shared address, payment method, device, or network. These appeals fail when sellers deny the connection, because Amazon already holds the data that produced the flag.
Policy reference: Amazon Seller Code of Conduct; Multiple Account Policy
Is this your violation?
- β’The notice mentions an account "related to" yours, sometimes with a partial email or account ID
- β’It references the Multiple Account Policy or the Seller Code of Conduct
- β’Your account was deactivated with no product complaint or performance metric attached
- β’A family member, partner, or former business associate also sells on Amazon
What Amazon wants to see
- βAn honest acknowledgment of the relationship between the accounts
- βConfirmation that the other account is in good standing or an explanation if it is not
- βA clear explanation of why two accounts existed and whether it was intentional
- βProof that you have not attempted to circumvent Amazon policies
The three-part structure
Every Amazon plan of action answers the same three questions, in this order. Skipping one is the most common structural mistake.
- 1. Root cause. What went wrong, stated as a fact about your own operation. Not what Amazon misunderstood.
- 2. Corrective actions. What you have already done, with dates. Past tense throughout.
- 3. Preventive measures. The system that stops it recurring. A process, not a promise to be careful.
Root cause examples
Pick the one that is true for you and rewrite it in your own words with your own specifics.
- A family member who shares my home address or payment method operates a separate Amazon seller account, which Amazon detected as a linked account
- I previously had an Amazon seller account that was suspended, and I opened a new account without receiving authorization from Amazon to do so
- A business partner or co-founder operated an Amazon account that was linked to mine through shared business information
- I operated a legitimate second account for a separate business entity without obtaining prior approval from Amazon
- An employee's personal account was linked to my business account through shared device or network use
Corrective action examples
Replace every bracket with your real supplier, brand, or date.
- I have confirmed with [PERSON] that their account [STATUS] and that we will ensure our accounts are not operated from shared devices or networks going forward
- I immediately ceased operating the secondary account [ACCOUNT ID] on [DATE]
- I have separated all business operations, payment methods, and devices between the two accounts
- I contacted Amazon Seller Support to request authorization for a second account on [DATE]
Preventive measure examples
- I will ensure that no family members or business partners who operate their own Amazon accounts use the same devices, networks, or payment methods as my account
- I will obtain prior written approval from Amazon before opening any additional seller accounts
- I have set up a dedicated device and network connection exclusively for my Amazon seller account to prevent accidental linking
- I will review Amazon's Multiple Account Policy annually to ensure ongoing compliance
Evidence to attach
- β’Explanation of your relationship to the other account holder (family member, business partner, employee)
- β’Evidence of separate business entities if accounts were legitimately separate businesses
- β’Confirmation of the standing of the related account
Mistakes that get this appeal rejected
- βDenying any relationship to the linked account when one clearly exists
- βFailing to address why the accounts were linked rather than just stating they are separate
- βNot acknowledging the previous suspension if that is what triggered the related-account flag
- βAppealing without first resolving the standing of the related account
Questions sellers ask
What if the other account really is a separate business?
Then say so and prove it. Separate legal entities, bank accounts, tax IDs, and physical operations all help. Amazon still expects that you asked permission before opening a second account.
The related account was mine and it was suspended. Can I still get reinstated?
It is harder, and it turns on the original suspension. Amazon normally wants the older account brought back into good standing, or a full explanation of why that is impossible, before it looks at the newer one.
Should I name the other account holder?
Yes. Amazon already knows the connection. Naming the person and explaining the relationship reads as honesty. Withholding it reads as concealment and is the fastest route to a rejection.
