Amazon Pricing Errors: Why Your Price Is Suppressed or Not Showing
Common Amazon pricing errors including price suppression, Buy Box loss, reference price issues, and how to fix each.
Amazon pricing errors fall into several categories, each with a different cause and fix. Price suppression (listing shows "Currently unavailable"): caused by Amazon's Fair Pricing Policy detecting that your price is unreasonably high. Go to Manage Pricing, look for a price flag on the ASIN, and adjust your price to within an acceptable range. Missing price (listing shows no price): you either have not set a price, or the price has been removed due to a policy issue. Go to Manage Pricing, find the ASIN, and set a current price. Reference price not showing (no "was" price appears): Amazon has removed your reference price because it determines the price was not genuine. Amazon checks price history — if your list price was never an actual selling price for a significant period, it may be removed as a misleading reference price. Buy Box not won despite having the lowest price: check your account health metrics — Order Defect Rate above 1%, Late Shipment Rate above 4%, or other performance issues can prevent Buy Box eligibility even if your price is competitive. Also check if your listing is FBM — FBA listings have a structural advantage for Buy Box. Price not updating after change: check if you have automated repricers running that are overriding your manual price changes. Also check if you have pricing rules in Manage Pricing that conflict with your manual change. Cross-marketplace price comparison: if you sell on your own website or other platforms at a lower price, Amazon may suppress your Amazon listing as a fair pricing violation. Ensure consistent pricing across channels.
