Amazon Listing Images Guide: All 9 Image Slots and What to Put in Each
How to use all nine Amazon product image slots strategically, with recommendations for each slot based on buyer behavior.
Amazon allows up to 9 product images per listing (1 main image plus 8 supplemental). Most sellers only use 3-5. Using all 9 strategically can meaningfully increase conversion. Main image (slot 1): white background only; product fills 85%+ of frame; highest resolution you have (2000x2000px minimum); no text or logos. Image 2: second angle or three-quarter view of the product; buyers want to see the product from multiple perspectives. Image 3: lifestyle image showing the product in use in a real setting; this is often the image that triggers the emotional decision to buy. Image 4: infographic highlighting the top 3-5 features with text callouts and icons; answers the question "what does this product do for me." Image 5: size or scale reference; show the product next to a common object (hand, coffee cup) or next to a ruler. This reduces "I thought it was bigger" returns significantly. Image 6: materials or quality close-up; zoom in on the texture, stitching, finish, or key construction detail that justifies your price point. Image 7: packaging shot; shows what arrives, builds trust, and reduces "I thought it came with X" complaints. Image 8: use-case variation or secondary context; show the product solving a different use case or for a different user than the main lifestyle image. Image 9: comparison chart image or benefit summary; a visual that makes your product's advantages over generic alternatives easy to grasp. This works especially well if your product has a meaningful differentiator that is hard to show in a photograph alone.
