Amazon Listing Character Limits by Field and Category

Every character limit for Amazon listing fields including title, bullets, description, and backend keywords by category.

Amazon enforces different character limits for listing fields. Title: 200 characters maximum for most categories; 80 characters for Clothing and Shoes; 80-100 characters for Baby Products. The first 80 characters appear in mobile search results for all categories. Bullet points: 255 characters per bullet (though some sources cite 500 — the safe limit is 250 to avoid issues across all categories). Amazon recommends keeping bullets readable and under 200 characters for display purposes. Product description: 2000 characters for standard text descriptions. If you use A+ Content, the description is replaced by A+ modules and the character limit is irrelevant. Backend search terms (keywords): 250 bytes total (not characters). ASCII characters are 1 byte each; special characters may use 2-3 bytes. Fill your 250 bytes efficiently: words separated by spaces (no commas), no repeated words. Subject matter (item type keyword): 50 characters. Intended use: 50 characters per entry, up to 5 entries. Target audience description: 50 characters. Other attributes vary by category template. For the most accurate limits: download the category-specific flat file template from Add Products > Download an Inventory File and check the validation notes column for each attribute.
