Amazon FBA Shipping Plan: How to Create One Without Errors

Step-by-step instructions for creating an Amazon FBA shipping plan that avoids the most common errors and processing rejections.

An FBA shipping plan tells Amazon what inventory you are sending, how many units, and in how many boxes. Incorrect shipping plans lead to receiving delays, unexpected fees, and stranded inventory. Creating a shipping plan in Seller Central: go to Inventory > Manage FBA Inventory (or use the Send/Replenish Inventory flow). Click "Send/Replenish Inventory" on the ASIN you are shipping. Choose your shipping origin and the "Individual products" or "Case-packed products" packing type (case-packed means all units in a box are the same ASIN and quantity -- use this when all your boxes are identical). Add the number of units per ASIN. Amazon assigns you to one or more fulfillment centers -- accept or split the shipment as directed. Label your units: each unit needs an FNSKU label (the Amazon barcode) if you are not using manufacturer barcodes. Print labels from Seller Central or use a thermal printer for higher volume. Print box labels for each box. Ship: compare carrier rates in Seller Central (Amazon partnered carriers like UPS are often discounted). Create box content details -- declare exactly which ASINs and quantities are in each box. Submit the shipment. Common errors: sending units without FNSKU labels; sending boxes without box content labels; incorrect unit counts in the plan (creates reconciliation issues); and packing fragile items without adequate protection, leading to damage fees.
