Amazon Catalog Errors: How to Fix Incorrect Listing Data
How to identify and correct Amazon catalog errors that are creating incorrect listing data you cannot edit through the standard interface.
Amazon catalog errors occur when incorrect data is locked into the catalog for an ASIN, often because a previous seller contributed incorrect information that is now considered the "authoritative" catalog data. Common catalog errors: wrong brand name locked on the listing despite your uploads showing the correct brand; incorrect product type or browse node that keeps reverting; title that Amazon has edited to a non-compliant version; product images that Amazon has assigned from a different ASIN due to a catalog merge; incorrect dimensions or weight in the catalog that differ from what you upload. Resolving catalog errors: For standard attribute errors (brand name, category, basic info): go to Edit Listing and try to correct the attribute directly. If the field is locked, the correction requires a Seller Support case. When opening a case, provide: the correct information with documentation (manufacturer data sheet, product packaging photos), the ASIN that needs correction, and a clear explanation of what is wrong. For image catalog errors (images from another product appearing on yours): use the "Report an Image" option on the listing or open a Seller Support case with your correct product images and an explanation. For catalog merge errors (two different products merged into one ASIN by Amazon): open a case requesting an ASIN split, providing clear evidence that the products are different. Brand-registered sellers have additional tools through Brand Registry for correcting catalog errors for their own brand's products.
