Amazon Account Suspended: How to Write an Effective Appeal

What to do when Amazon suspends your seller account -- how to diagnose the reason and write a Plan of Action that gets reinstated.

An Amazon account suspension stops all selling activity until you successfully appeal. Amazon suspends accounts for three primary reasons: performance issues (Order Defect Rate above 1%, Late Shipment Rate above 4%, etc.), policy violations (selling prohibited products, review manipulation, document authenticity issues), and inauthentic or counterfeit product complaints. How to identify the reason: go to Performance Notifications in Seller Central -- the suspension notification explains the specific reason. If the notice is vague, look at your Account Health for the most recent and severe violations. Writing an effective Plan of Action (POA): a POA has three required sections. Root cause: explain specifically why each identified violation occurred. Do not make excuses or blame Amazon -- take ownership. Corrective actions: list specific steps you have already taken to fix each root cause. Preventive measures: describe ongoing processes you will maintain to prevent recurrence. POA tips: be specific (not "I will monitor my account" but "I have implemented weekly account health reviews every Monday, checking ODR, LSR, and open policy violations"); address every violation Amazon cited even if you think it was unfair; keep the tone professional and factual; avoid emotional language or accusations. Submission: submit through the Performance Notifications screen where the suspension notice appears, not through Seller Support. Appeals submitted through Seller Support are typically not routed to the suspension team.
