IPI Score Best Practices for FBA Sellers

The operational habits and systems that consistently high-IPI sellers use to maintain scores above 500.

High-IPI sellers share a set of operational practices that keep their scores consistently above 500. These are the habits that make the difference: Weekly IPI review — high performers check the IPI dashboard every Monday and identify any factor that has moved in the wrong direction. They treat a declining trend as a signal to act, not to wait. Dynamic reorder points — rather than using fixed time-based reorder points, they calculate reorder based on current 30-day sales velocity multiplied by lead time plus a safety stock buffer. This prevents both stockouts and overstocking. Stranded inventory zero tolerance — they check Fix Stranded Inventory every Monday and resolve everything immediately. Even 10 stranded units can affect the percentage metric if your total inventory is small. Product retirement plan — they have an explicit policy: any product that has not sold 5+ units in any 30-day period in the last 6 months goes on the retirement list. They submit removal orders and stop replenishing these products. Seasonal adjustment — they plan inventory levels for each season explicitly, not just restocking based on historical patterns. For example, they actively draw down summer inventory in August so they have storage capacity and a clean IPI entering Q4.
