How to Fix: Wrong Brand on Listing
Why this happens
The brand field on the listing shows a different brand name than the product or your registered brand. This happens when matching to an existing ASIN that has the wrong brand, when a supplier provides incorrect catalog data, or when the brand field was left as a default value.
Step-by-step fix
- 1Go to Edit Listing > Product Info and check the Brand field
- 2If you can edit it directly, update to the correct brand name and save
- 3If the field is locked (common on catalog-wide brand attributes controlled by the brand owner), open a Seller Support case requesting a brand change with supporting documentation
- 4If brand-registered, you can update brand attributes through Brand Registry
- 5Provide proof of authorization (invoices, manufacturer authorization letters) if Amazon requests it
Prevention tips
- ✓Verify the brand field before contributing any listing or matching to an existing ASIN
- ✓If creating new listings, always set the brand field explicitly — do not leave default values
- ✓If brand-registered, use brand registry protections to prevent unauthorized brand changes
Typical fix time: 24-72 hours
