How to Fix: Wrong Brand on Listing

Why this happens

The brand field on the listing shows a different brand name than the product or your registered brand. This happens when matching to an existing ASIN that has the wrong brand, when a supplier provides incorrect catalog data, or when the brand field was left as a default value.

Step-by-step fix

  1. 1Go to Edit Listing > Product Info and check the Brand field
  2. 2If you can edit it directly, update to the correct brand name and save
  3. 3If the field is locked (common on catalog-wide brand attributes controlled by the brand owner), open a Seller Support case requesting a brand change with supporting documentation
  4. 4If brand-registered, you can update brand attributes through Brand Registry
  5. 5Provide proof of authorization (invoices, manufacturer authorization letters) if Amazon requests it

Prevention tips

  • Verify the brand field before contributing any listing or matching to an existing ASIN
  • If creating new listings, always set the brand field explicitly — do not leave default values
  • If brand-registered, use brand registry protections to prevent unauthorized brand changes
Typical fix time: 24-72 hours
