How to Fix: Main Image Shows Text Overlay
Why this happens
Your main product image has text, labels, watermarks, or promotional badges overlaid on it. Amazon prohibits any text on the main image slot. This causes suppression and can also reduce click-through rate since text-heavy images look less professional in search results.
Step-by-step fix
- 1Identify the text or overlay on your current main image
- 2Go back to the original product photograph and remove the overlay in Photoshop, Canva, or by working with your photographer
- 3Ensure the background is pure white after removing the overlay
- 4Upload the corrected image via Edit Listing > Images > Main Image slot
- 5Delete the old non-compliant image from the slot
- 6Allow 4-24 hours for Amazon to process the new image and lift any suppression

- ✓Store original product photos without any overlay as master files — apply text and graphics only to secondary images
- ✓Create an image checklist: main image = no text, white background. Secondary images = text/graphics allowed
