How to Fix: HTML Tags in Bullet Points
Why this happens
HTML tags such as <br>, <b>, <p>, or <ul> have been added to bullet point fields. Amazon strips these or displays them as raw code in bullet fields. Only A+ Content (for brand-registered sellers) supports rich text formatting.
Step-by-step fix
- 1Go to Edit Listing > Description and check each bullet point field for any HTML tags
- 2Remove all HTML tags from bullet point fields — use plain text only
- 3To create emphasis, use ALL CAPS for the first 2-4 words of each bullet (Amazon convention)
- 4For bold or formatted content, use A+ Content instead (requires Brand Registry)
- 5Save the listing and verify the bullet points display correctly on the product page
Prevention tips
- ✓Do not copy-paste bullet content from Word documents or HTML editors
- ✓Always write bullet points in a plain text editor (Notepad, TextEdit) before pasting into Seller Central
- ✓Audit bullet points after any bulk flat file upload to check for encoding issues
Typical fix time: 30 minutes
